The architecture of 4Access Communications products leverages open source tools and projects, reducing development time thereby reducing cost of ownership. Our terminals implement a full version of the Linux Operating System which allows for enhanced security and application independence.

OPEN OPERATING SYSTEM
4Access uses software development tools available via the Open Source community and the Linux Operating System. This greatly enhances the size of the pool of developers with the skills necessary to write payment applications. Devices typically available to the personal computer market, but needing special development for terminals, can now be connected directly to the 4Access devices with little development work. Simply acquire the driver from the open source world and compile it.

MULTIPLE APPLICATION ARCHITECTURE
Services provided by the payment industry have expanded rapidly, tremendously increasing payment options for merchants and consumers. This has led to a need for a terminal that can accept multiple applications while providing protection for the data between each application. Application development is taking place at a significantly greater rate than ever before. Yet many of the devices adhere to the same design model of custom hardware, custom operating systems and custom developers kits which require specialized software developers.

TERMINAL MANAGEMENT
The Terminal Management system from 4Access Communications is an easy to use download tool for deploying and updating terminals. This web based tool incorporates the following features:

  • Multiple application downloads per session
  • Scheduled automated downloads
  • Reduced communication time by downloading “differences” or “changes”
  • Terminal initiated, host initiated and direct downloads
  • Group downloads
  • Robust security and reporting
